Mouse & Keyboard in XP

Saturday, November 22nd, 2003

www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/
Here’s a curious thing. My new XP system kept hanging recently, and culprit each time (when it wasn’t the annoying Debuglog.log) was Point32.exe. That’s my mouse! So I checked out Microsoft’s Mouse & Keyboard website and discovered that I should be using Intellipoint 5.0 for XP, rather than the 4.1 installed. Let’s hope things are a little more stable now. Microsoft must be fed up of my almost constant stream of automated crash reports.

Lies Damned Lies

Saturday, November 22nd, 2003

I’ve just rediscovered the Lies Damned Lies album ‘lamentations’ from 1996. I got it on special offer from Sticky Music’s website (http://www.stickymusic.co.uk/). It was seeing Steve Butler at a conference from Monday to Wednesday that prompted me to give it a spin again. Good stuff: reflective, prayerful and beautiful.

Take your pick

Saturday, November 22nd, 2003

Just when I had given up of ever seeing my customized guitar picks from www.guitarpicksuk.com arrive they dropped through my letterbox this morning. They are printed with the simple message: Join Me. Of course!

The Domain Remains the Same

Friday, November 21st, 2003

We now have our www.gareth-and-jane-saunders.co.uk domain name back. We had to wait until our account with Freenetname expired before we wrestled it off them in exchange for cash and transferred it to 123-reg.co.uk to manage it there. It now points… to our front page!

Powerpoint band

Friday, November 21st, 2003

My brother, Eddie, has asked me to play guitar (Burns Brian May, of course!) in the Powerpoint band once a month. Powerpoint is a Christian youth event held at St Thomas’s Episcopal Church on Glasgow Road here in Edinburgh; I think it is overseen by Youth For Christ (YFC) – at least, it used to be. I played my first ‘gig’ with the band this month.

Liturgical Colours

Friday, November 14th, 2003

I’m preaching on Sunday about the use of liturgical colours in the Scottish Episcopal Church. I’ve produced a calendar showing the colours for next year (2003-04); remember the liturgical year begins on the First Sunday of Advent, which this year is November 30. You may download the calendar, in PDF format.

Birthday #32

Tuesday, November 11th, 2003

Yesterday Jane bought me my birthday present (my birthday isn’t until Tuesday 11 November): a Panasonic personal CD player (SLSX418S) that also plays CD-Rs of MP3 files. How do I know this? I chose it. We went to Richer Sounds on Chambers Street here in Edinburgh; I thoroughly recommend them.
I’m now in the process of MP3-ing my albums; I’ve got as far as ‘B’. For the ripping and conversion I am using CD’n'Go which is wonderfully simple to use and uses the CDDB facility at freedb.org to recognise the disc and saves me typing in the song titles. This means I’ll can take around 160 albums away with me on only 10 CD-Rs when we visit California in January.

In Binary my age is 100000
In Hexadecimal I am only 20!
