Bad news about the Beagle mission to Mars. It’s always disappointing to get a new remote controlled toy at Christmas only to find that it doesn’t work properly!

Where is Beagle?
Saturday, December 27th, 2003New web host?
Saturday, December 27th, 2003I am seriously considering upgrading to a new web host. This would offer me more webspace and bandwidth, as well as more complex website capabilities, e.g. PHP, MySQL, CGI, etc. I am currently looking at www.webfusion.co.uk whose WebFusion Home package offers a whopping 1.5 GB webspace and a 10GB monthly bandwidth allowance, and all for under £100 p.a.

Saturday, December 27th, 2003I received the following albums from these fine people:
Apollyon Sun – Sub (from my wife, Jane)
Celtic Frost – To Mega Therion (from my wife, Jane)
Iron Maiden – Live After Death (from my brother, Eddie)

Church vs. The Church
Sunday, December 14th, 2003I’ve had some amazing conversations with people over the last couple of weeks about God, faith and the Church. Many of these conversations have taken place during Join Me activities. I am increasingly of the opinion that I do not have a problem with Church — that is the meeting together of people in Jesus’ name — but I do have issues with the Church, the institution.
I wish the Church didn’t focus so much on itself, on the mechanics and politics of how it will keep itself financed and organised, and instead gave more energy towards how to encourage and resource people in their spiritual journeys, helping them to know themselves better, fulfil their potential and support them in their relationship with God and with one another.
How do we — those already in the Church — help bring this change about? How do we help people’s focus to shift?
Heaven and Hell patch
Saturday, December 13th, 2003It’s nice when software companies listen to their customers. I, and a thousand other Heaven & Hell players have been complaining about bugs in the game, that cause it to hang rather unceremoniously. What is the problem? graphics card, mouse driver, soundcard? Who knows! CDV have now released a patch, which will hopefully sort these problems.
I am a little nervous to try it again (I don’t like crashes, except in Colin McRae Rally 2.0) but will report how I get on.
