Clearly no age discrimination at InterVideo!
I’m all for not discriminating people on account of their age, but surely InterVideo are taking it a little too far.
I clicked on the InterVideo WinDVD version 5 link on my work PC this afternoon and this being the first time I’d done this was invited to register the product. I agreed and the application promptly launched a form in Internet Explorer (and not my default browser, mind!).
It was the usual information being asked for: my title (only Mr. or Ms. were offered), name, e-mail address and date of birth. I clicked November, 11, and then clicked on the “Year” drop-down menu which presented me with this…
… a list of every year going back to 1890!
How many 116 year olds do you know who need to register their DVD software?!
The site assures us that:
InterVideo requires date of birth to ensure compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA).
I think we can safely assume that anyone born before 1900 is old enough to watch whatever they wish to wish on DVD. Whatever that is!

This is discrimination! The oldest man in the world (at the moment) is believed to be 119 - this website denies him the opportunity to use this DVD software, as he is too old for their system.
Shocking.
