Christmas Lights

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

Only a few weeks now until Christmas, the lights are up in St Andrews and a few locals are decking their houses with illuminated Christmas decorations. But sadly none quite as spectacular as this.
(I know this isn’t terribly new, but is for those who’ve not seen it before. Enjoy!)

St Andrew’s Day in St Andrews

The Scottish flag: a blue field with a white saltire. (Artwork by Gareth J M Saunders.)
Today is the feast of St Andrew, apostle and Patron Saint of Scotland (and Russia and Romania). The special ‘collect’ prayer for today:

My PC has died

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

This evening my PC died. I’m gutted.

How to complete a music room

Monday, November 27th, 2006

Of course, no respectable music room would be complete without a Steve Lawson Bass: The Final Frontier poster.
Or a wall of classic 80s and 90s REAL METAL on cassette.
Today’s random blast from the past from Gareth’s Amazing Wall of Metal™ is Crowforce’s self-titled album from 1992. Who could forget such metal/crossover classics as “White King”, […]

Why you should never mix alkali metals with water

Friday, November 24th, 2006

This video clip (from the Sky One TV show Brainiac, featuring the ever wonderful Richard Hammond and the splendidly clever and down-to-earth Jon Tickle) is what the internet is all about: it’s educational, informative and fun. Oh and it also shows common household objects being (safely) blown up, which is always a bonus.

(Spotted on […]
