Searched through the photo archives. Found several general views of the quad from Raisin Monday 1989, but no photos of you specifically. There is one photo that contains someone who looks not entirely unlike you, but its hard to tell. And the guy has ginger hair. So unless you were oranged-up for the occasion I's probably not you.

Happy to scan the photos in if you want to try and identify anyone you know... Let me know.

Well, my mother gave me a singing angel (aww) on my string, and dressed me up as "the rosy-fingered dawn". Perhaps the posh, elitist streak has become more pronounced as time goes on. Although, my father gave me broad beans, a soldier in a dress, and a baby in uniform... I'm sure there was a reason for it at the time.

Gareth,

I am reasonably sure I have a photo of you on Raisin monday 1989, covered in shaving foam and 'worse' - although the photo was taken after the end of the festivities, the remnants of your costume will probably still be evident.

I'll have a look and send a copy if I can find it. But where the photo might be is anybody's guess...

My raisin strings were a string of 3 rubber ducks and a small inflatable rubber ring - both to accompany me when canoeing.

On raisin monday 1988 I was dressed as a scarecrow - with arms outstretched - in other words utterly incapable of defending myself from incoming shaving foam, flour, eggs, etc. (yes, 1988 was before eggs were banned from the proceedings) I managed to forgive my academic mother... eventually.

On Raisin Sunday night, my (teetotal) academic father took me and his five other kids to an Ian White concert in Dundee. The day after Raisin monday I saw Iron Maiden at the Playhouse in Edinburgh - in the seventh seat of the seventh row for the seventh son of a seventh son tour! Heaven to hell in a 48 hour period.

Quite a memorable extended weekend all told.

My dear - your account mentions little or nothing of the vast amounts of alcohol consumed, academic incest, outlandish costumes, semi-naked comotose students littering the pavements after the 'Raisin Tea' and many other delights of the Raisin weekend. Like you, memories of my chilly, nay Baltic, Monday morning in November '88 remain fresh! BTW - glad you've taken the plunge and moved in with Jane. I really hope it works out for you both, but can't say I'm optimistic as the DC has recently claimed one of the desks in <strong>my</strong><em> study with calamitous consequences for its tidiness.</em>
