WordPress is a Content Management System (CMS), that's one of the core features of a CMS: the ability to manage when content is published. It's not dodgy at all. However, signing a post "anon" seems to me to be far more underhand and potentially deceiving than wanting to wish people a happy Christmas on the stroke of midnight on Christmas Eve/Christmas Day.
