I came here looking for a story about broccoli. As one does. But so far have found this (all-too familiar) story about customer services leaving people feeling devalued. In response, I can only say that I hope nobody coincidentally recommends [name of national car insurance firm] to you.

I would suggest elephant.co.uk - I've had nothing but brilliant service and great prices from them and that includes two claims, two cars, adding a temporary driver and two changes of address.

Tesco for most things seem to be pretty good, they are the "new marks & Spencers" of the supermarket world

I have noticed my phone bill going up in the last 12 months due to "hidden" support costs with 0870 numbers - on a point of principal I now use & will contribute to http://www.saynoto0870.co.uk/

Personally I'm with Admiral; having only had one incident requiring a claim, I wasn't too unhappy with them and they remain the cheapest for me. YMMV.

Confused.com would be one way to work out who's cheapest (unlike the AA, they actually *do* check a variety of different insurers; specifically they check insurers using a multiplicity of different *underwriters*, so you don't get half a dozen variations on a theme of "Pru plus £15" etc).

And last time I checked Elephant where just "Admiral + £10".

Name and shame, who were the insurars? You name BT in a positive way and what you are saying is factual not exagerated...

I've had excellent service from Elephant.co.uk recently, great with dealing with a claim and good renewal quote. I didn't try to move house during this however.

Insurance recommendations - do without it. oh wait, that's illegal, right? Oh well. Run the Gauntlet. Live a little. Live a (real) Lotto!

Maybe not.

Zurich have been good with us...hopefully that's not your current company!!

BT - good service, but shame about the price structure. However, it's nice when people get it right. It reminds us why we like to do things right - so that we make other people realise that it's nice when people do things right. and so on. and so on. there's a story idea in there somewhere.... Pay it sideways?
