A fair point Mike, but I think you misunderstood what I meant.

I wrote

I cannot tell at a glance what I’m supposed to do, without having to read all the text and then work out what on earth it all means....

What I want is a dialog that I can look at and immediately understand what is being asked of me. I can then spend my time valuably deciding on whether I want to keep that potentially-important data or not.

As it stands, it takes me too much time simply trying to understand what the text means BEFORE I even get to the point where I can make the decision.

I suspect that a lot of people just glance at the dialog box, read it through once (if at all) and then press YES, simply because it's a positive action ... surely?!.

I'm going to update my blog post accordingly, with images.

I agree with 2-4 but not 1.

The reason Windows has such an abysmal security record is because dialogues DON'T MAKE PEOPLE THINK.

If you are doing something serious like that sync, where you could lose a bunch of important data, you should have to think about it rather than clicking it instinctively!
